Grace & Balance...

Last March I had the pleasure of traveling out to Los Angeles with my good friend, fellow designer, Ginger Brewton. It's hard to believe that a year has passed since our amazing adventure. We saw so many inspiring things during our visit that I had to dedicate these first several posts to all the fabulousness we found in LA. Hope you enjoy!

The Klismos Chair is a perfect example of timeless, understated elegance. The delicate legs which curve in opposite directions to stabilize weight and the comfortable s-shaped back create a chair that is both graceful and balanced. It's no wonder this Greek invention is still relevant in design of today. This example was seen at JF Chen and I just love it in the gold!

Beginnings

As I wake up today, the sun has replaced the gloom of the past few months. The trees are stunning with their colorful array of blooms. Even the birds seem livelier - incessantly singing and speaking to one another. Spring is here! All the words associated with spring - renew, rebirth, refresh - all signify one main thing - spring is a time for new beginnings.

With that in mind, I felt it time to refocus my blog keeping the title "Design is in the Detail" as the inspiration for it. As you know I am an interior designer, not a writer, and I feel the best way to express my views and influences to you is visually. Therefore, moving forward, I am going to use the blog to post images of what I feel differentiates great design from just the average  -  the details. I hope you enjoy this new chapter of the blog!

In keeping with the Spring theme - look at these beautiful doors I saw at JF Chen Loft when I was in LA last March. These doors actually lead to the stock room - what a creative way to take a very utilitarian feature and make it stunning.
